History of Brax Womens Clothing
As tailored clothes fell out of favour and more people were buying off the peg garments, Bernard and Mary Leineweber noticed a problem: these clothes didn’t fit anyone in particular and were often shapeless and baggy, something they wanted to correct.
Brax were one of the first European brands to really start experimenting and taking risks with blends of artificial and natural fibres in a way that was fashionable and fun rather than utilitarian, allowing women and men to wear clothes that moved with their bodies and allowed them to be active while wearing them for the first time. It’s no surprise that sportswear was one of their early successes, and for many years the company specialised in cyclewear and skiwear for men. After the First World War and the Great Depression, new owners noticed that the materials that Leinewebers were using were also popular with women, and branched out into coats, hats and suits – demonstrating that leisurewear could be comfortable and fun rather than stiff and formal. The company began to specialise in classic women's clothing and opened a department store in Berlin.
Needing a new product to boost sales after the destruction of the Second World War, Brax applied what it had learned about women’s coats to women’s trousers, and the first Brax branded clothes were made in 1950. They caught the mood of the moment, offering practicality and comfort in an era where social formality was breaking down and women had more leisure time than ever, along with this, they were extremely comfortable and stylish. Brax trousers became the biggest selling women’s trousers in Germany, and by the 1970s the company had re-branded as Brax and only sold women’s trousers, but tough economic times meant another change in direction was needed, and Brax opted to close all its stores in favour of working with select retailers instead, building great relationships that would win them fans all over Europe.
Brax Womens Clothing UK
These days Brax Clothing produces a varied range of women’s clothing again all the way from classic women’s jeans to linen shirts and women’s jackets, all based around the Brax motto: “Feel good”. That commitment to a perfect fit is what drives what the company does, and the relationships they have with retailers mean that their customer service is always the best. Products are high quality, shipped on time, can be replaced quickly and new products are coming out all the time, so you never have to wait too long for your next Brax outfit. At the heart of it all, just as it was in the 1880s, is that clothing should fit well while being stylish – there’s no need to compromise. This is achieved as it has always been, by experimenting with the latest technology in fabric blends that allow their tailors to create clothes that have all of the advantages of both artificial and natural fibres but with none of the downsides. Their clothes are stretchy and comfortable but tough and hard wearing, they’re warm but breathable and they are comfy but fashionable.
