Tucked away at the foot of Mount Vesuvius you’ll find the picturesque town of Gragnano in the south of Italy just outside of Naples, the home of Sartoria Saracena. During our first visit, we realised quite quickly that this wasn’t your average factory setup. Sartoria Saracena is a family-run business managed across generations and you feel that as soon as you walk in. With a handful of sewing machines as you enter and the pattern cutting room behind this you’ll find walls of beautiful printed linen fabric. As you leave this room and walk out into the courtyard which is brimming with lemons, grapefruits and olives, a terracotta and tile path takes you to their secluded showroom. It’s nothing short of idyllic and that translates perfectly into their exquisite designs.

Famous for their high-quality, luxurious linen classic women's clothing garments, all made in Italy, you’ll find their designs in designer boutiques dotted around the Amalfi coast and also here in Melrose! We hand-select each garment and choose the fabrics we would like it made in which often means that the Sartoria Saracena Dresses you see at Sarah Thomson are 100% unique to us.

The Mamma Mia Dress

Each summer season, the Mamma Mia dresses play an integral role in our collection. As one of our bestselling styles we stock between four to five different prints or fabrics, changing each season. It really makes you feel a million dollars, simply put, it’s a stunner!

The Mamma Midi Dress

Similar to that of our Mamma Mia dress, the Mamma Midi Dress is a classic shirtwaist dress, that buttons all the way up with a 3/4 sleeve, a collar and the all-important pockets! These women's midi dresses are shorter length and is slightly less fitted on the body.
