Estheme Cashmere is one of our favourite brands working with this exclusive form of goat’s wool today, taking advantage of its natural smoothness and warmth to create some truly striking classic knitwear which we think is Cashmere as you’ve never seen it before.

The French design studio creates Cashmere products in all shapes and sizes, focusing on outerwear but conjuring everything from t-shirts to cardigans, jumpers and blouses. The major difference here between Estheme and other brands is that, alongside their more traditional garments, they also produce Cashmere that makes use of modern prints to create contemporary clothes out of age-old knitting techniques. We love their approach and how they’re making traditionally high-end fashion accessible to everyone with their contemporary design. It’s a totally new way to appreciate an ancient fabric.

History Of Estheme Cashmere

Estheme Cashmere is a relatively new studio on the market and is growing rapidly thanks to the novelty of its product and the efforts of founder Julie Sheng. A graduate of the top French fashion school ESMOD where she had nursed a passion for dyeing and knitwear, Julie grew the brand rapidly from its start 15 years ago, impressing the industry’s top agents before acquiring a factory to step up production. More than a decade later and Estheme Cashmere is sold in more than 500 shops across France, with eight dedicated stores in France and Switzerland.

What makes Estheme Cashmere different as a women’s clothing brand is that the design is artist-led, and where some designers start with a garment and add the print – Estheme often create the garment around a print that has already been made. This allows the art to lead the way, creating a unique proposition, particularly in a market that is as traditional as the Cashmere industry. It was this break with tradition that allowed Estheme to grow so quickly, subverting the market’s expectation of what a Cashmere garment could be and introducing a whole new audience to the famous material. That’s one of the reasons we love this brand so much because they created clothes that allow more women to experience the joy of Cashmere clothing in a way that compliments her style and allows her to be comfortable.

Part of what makes Estheme Cashmere so exciting is that break from the norm, and while so many other Cashmere designers are sticking to the familiar market of high-end jumpers and women's scarves, Estheme is taking on a much more contemporary audience in surprising ways.
